Father a memory

My Father recently died. And it started me thinking about our relationship. I don't remember having many discussions with Dad. But we often sat near each other while watching TV or reading, just savoring each others company.

We occasionally played golf together, after I retired from the Navy, but he played almost everyday with the fort Wayne senior league.
When I was young, He worked long hours and was tired at the end of the day, and had many things to do around the house.
On Sunday after Church we would play games, card games or board games or watch TV. He really liked some of the shows, I think his favorite was Lawrence Welk on Saturday night.
Saturdays were for chores around the house. Burning the trash, mowing lawn, weeding the garden, planting the garden, planting flowers.
We moved once during my childhood. I was 14 or 15 and we moved from the house on Wayne Trace to a house in Meadow brook and that is where Mom and Dad stayed until they bought the house where Mom lives now.
Dad especially liked going to the lake after he retired. And they traveled in the winter to Arizona or Florida. One winter they went to Virginia to visit me and we visited some of the tourist attractions in Virginia Beach. I think he got a kick out of bumming around with me, I really hope so.
I think his favorite thing was to play his Fiddle and dance. He never passed up an opportunity to dance a jig for the kids at family gatherings, and he loved to play his guitar and sing songs for the kids at those family outings.
